This monochrome sepia won the Silver Cross--second prize-- at the 1896 Washington Salon. The
simple, delicate landscape showing sand dune and horizon was likened to paintings by the European master Corot. Through camera lens and darkroom manipulation. Clements achieved a painterly, impressionistic print.
