As Jazz became popular, people who wanted to play it at home could purchase sheet music. This 1926 sheetmusic's lyrics were written by Walter Melrose, the music was written by Joe "King" Oliver. Although this sheetmusic was published in 1926, King Oliver's Creole Jazz Band broke up in 1924.

History
Cornetist Joe "King" Oliver was born in New Orleans in 1885 and-like many other African Americans who took part in the Great Migration-he moved to Chicago in 1919. Oliver was a leader in the city's thriving jazz scene. King Oliver's Creole Jazz Band was full of immensly talented and innovative musicians-including Louis Armstrong, who Oliver recruited to play second cornet in the early 1920s.
