| Visual and microscopic examination of the area of the missing toe on the right foot reveals the construction of the model. The enlarged photograph shows a wire in the center of the toe area that is part of the armature that supports the entire model, much like the bones of a human skeleton. Surrounding the armature is paper pulp, which makes up the bulk of the model. On top of the pulp are layers of paper sheets. These sheets maintain the model's shape and provide a smooth surface for the paint layer. The paint layer contains the details that make up the anatomy of the model. |
