Immediate Source of Acquisition note
Collection donated by Brad J. Bogart on November 12, 1984. Bogart acquired the scrapbook at a flea market in Montague, Michigan and the owner purchased it in Sturgis, Michigan. The immediate source of the court proceedings is unknown.

Biographical/Historical note
Brad Bogart accquired the items in this collection with intentions to create a novel and erect a monument from the snapshots in the scrapbook. Brad Bogart a writer from Michigan was inspired by the scrapbook to write a novel and pursue the possibility of his work becoming a movie. He was also intrigued by the scenes of stevedores working along the docks in different cities along the Mississippi, Ohio, and Tennessee Rivers. Bogart researched and planned to build a monument dedicated to these workers in St. Louis, but there is no further evidence of his plans.
Frank E. Lark created the scrapobook by placing 60 photgraphs inside of a 1913 Crane and Company desk diary with his name written on the front. Bogart reported that Frank E. Lark died in the 1960s and is buried in Sturgis, Michigan along with his wife Bertha Lark.
Scope and Contents note
This collection has two series with the content not being related.
Series 1, Court Proceedings, 1911-1927, consists of three pages (1911, 1912, 1927) of court record proceedings from the territory of Arizona, Justice's Court of Swansea, Yuma County. One page concerns an inquest over the remains of W. C. Gilbert, found dead on the Colorado River Indian Reservation, 15 miles from Parker, Arizona. The other court proceedings have detailed information about a felony charge against Rex Dalgish and misdemeanor charges against Manuel Leobo, R. W. Wilson, and Andrew Chavez. The court proceedings are hand written in ink.
Series 2, Frank E. Lark Scrapbook, 1914, consists of a 1913 Crane Company desk diary containing 61 photographs by Frank E. Lark documenting a trip on the Mississippi, Ohio, and Tennessee Rivers, June 1914. The snapshots include people traveling with Bogart, scenes of the rivers, workers along boats and docks, and several have captions with names and locations within cities. The scrapbook photographs varies in sizes that range from 2.5 by 4.5 inches to 3.5 by 5.5 inches.
