Container List

Subseries 3F: Other Music Company Records, 1938-1965
(boxes 106-111)

The records consist of materials that document the operations of other music companies that Ellington established, including Mercer Records, Inc., Gaye Records, Inc., and Eighty-Eight Records, Inc. Mercer Records, Inc., managed by Ellington's son Mercer and the late Leonard Feather, demonstrate the Ellingtons' attempts to produce their own recordings. Gaye Records, Inc. and Eighty-Eight Records, Inc., both primarily charter companies, consist of stock certificates and minutes and by-laws. The records are arranged chronologically. The Gaye Records, Inc. and 88 Records ledgers have been placed at the end of this series.
