Conclusion

The Duplan Silk Company (later Duplan Silk Corp.) contributed additional examples of the firm’s work, thirty in all, in 1915, 1918, and 1921. Jean Duplan sold the company to investors in 1921, at which time it became a publicly traded corporation. The Hazleton, PA mill closed in 1953.

The NMAH Costume Department holds several items of women’s clothing by Paul Poiret: a white evening wrap from 1910 (Catalog # 286126.1); a black and white checked wool suit, 1912-1914 (272952.2); a black and gold dress, 1920s (238836.07); a rust-colored woolen dress, 1920s (238836.8); and a hand-painted velvet jacket, 1926-1927 (1977.0842.5).
