- Abstract
- The record book records a variety of fish taken at Beaufort, North Carolina, June 12 -September 1912, kept by Lewis Radcliffe, Wm. J. Crozier and Selig Hecht, Bureau of Fisheries Laboratory. Data recorded includes date, notes on weather and conditions, place where caught, manner of capture, name of specimen, sex, measurements, stomach contents and remarks. Indexed by species. Begins with a template for specimen entries. Entries are arranged by date. Notes are sometimes extensive and discuss purpose of location visits, and details about specimen collecting, and location. Includes pasted inserts with graph. Locations in North Carolina include Beaufort County, Fort Macon, Newport River, and Pivers Island.

- The record book labeled "Log, Record of fishes taken in Beaufort region during 1913. Marine Biological Laboratory, U. S. Bureau of Fisheries, Beaufort, N. C." records a variety of fish collected across North Carolina. Entries are arranged by date. Information recorded includes date, location, collector, species, measurements, remarks, some photographs of a shark specimen and notes concerning fish trade. Indexed by species. January 22-November 1913, May-August 1914. Details of notes include descriptions of people with whom collectors worked, schools of fish observed, locations where collected and situations surrounding some collecting events. Locations noted in North Carolina include Pivers Island, Harkers Island, Bird Island, Newport River, and North River.|Includes loose inserts.

- "Here also is the stone foundation of Captain Weaver's house built c. 1895. The stone foundations were used to edge a formal garden now mostly grown over. Between the present house and the outbuildings is a charming log playhouse, constructed in 1906."
