Grampus, log, 1914
- Abstract
- This volume is a log of the schooner Grampus for 16 January to 13 March 1914 with data recorded at sampling stations in the western Atlantic Ocean. Station numbers span from 10157 to 10197. Fields for each station record include station number, date, time, position, depth, bottom, wind, sea, and sky. Also included are tables for temperature at different depths and information on nets. The position field is empty for most stations; the few that are recorded in January are in the vicinity of 36° N and 74° W in the Atlantic Ocean off of Virginia and North Carolina. Loose sheets in the back of the volume are tables of station numbers and other documents from Grampus cruises from 1913 to 1917. The tables include salinities and temperatures for the 1914 cruise as well as tables of station numbers (10057-10156) from 1913. Loose sheets also include a nautical chart of the western Atlantic Ocean off of the mid-Atlantic and northeastern United States on which station positions from 1913 are mapped and a document on leptocephalids collected from the Grampus in 1913, including one sketch.

Duncan's specimen log
- Abstract
- The field book documents the mammal collecting of J. F. Duncan, November 22, 1967 - April 5, 1968. Entries are dated and headed with location, collecting method (quantity, type), specimen number (JFD1 - JFD69), type, 4 measurements, sex, specimen preparation, notes on chromosome prep and blood slides. Locations are across Viet Nam including Côn So'n Island and Nui Naa Bah(?). There are descriptive narratives covering specimens collected and collecting events. These include observed flora and fauna, interactions with local inhabitants and colleagues, daily work and time of day, collecting method (bait, type, quantity). There are references to Van Peenan. A portion of the notebook is blank. Specimens were also collected in Dahlgren, Virginia.

Master log (rodent) lab., PMU
- Abstract
- The field book is a master log of rodents collected 1965 - 1966 in locations across the Republic of Vietnam. Entries include specimen number, locality (country, region, locations that appear to be military installations (i.e. Dan Nang Airfield) of geological landmarks and distances from), date, sex, type, 4 measurements, sometimes altitude, measurements of sexual organs, museum preparation, blood film and spleen imp. Locations include Mt. Sontra [Sơn Trà].

R. H. Light, mammal log, 4 - 131
- Abstract
- The log documents specimens collected by R. H. Light in Vietnan, 1969. Entries cover USNM catalog number (non sequential), additional identifier, date, locality (country, province, town, landmarks, sometimes specifying buildings), latitude and longitude, sex, weight, elevation, measurements, and sometimes specimen preparation. Journal entries cover March 1 - April 20. Entries describe travel details (mode of transportation, routes, interactions with colleagues including Van Peenan, checking in with NAMRU-2 detachment, specimen collecting, collecting methods (quantity, trap type, locations, type of habitat), daily activities, vegetation, and habitat. There are some personal observations of local communities. Locations include Mt. Sontra [Sơn Trà] and Da Nang. A portion of the notebook is blank.

- Abstract
- This folder contains the collection logs of Margaret Collins, from collecting trips to British Virgin Islands, 1988-1991. Specimens are numbered beginning with 1 for each location. Entries include: number, scientific name, locality, date, collecting note (from dry branch on ground, etc.), and other notes. Localities include: Guana Island, Eustatia Island, Tortola, Virgin Gorda, Cooper Island, Ginger Island, Peter Island, Great Thatch Island, and Jost van Dyke Islands.

Log of Great Crest, 1962-1968
- Abstract
- Gabrielson's more or less daily journal from 1 January 1962 to 29 December 1968 containing lists of birds observed and collected, gardening, notes of professional activities such as meetings and conferences. Birds sighted and collected are mostly around Gabrielson's home in Oakton, Virginia. Gabrielson's bird lists also include notes on abundance or commonality.

Vema cruise 26 : bathythermograph log sheets, August 1968-May 1969
- Abstract
- This unbound log book contains bathythermograph (BT) log sheets from Vema cruise 26 from August 1968 and April and May, 1968. Also included are BT log sheets from Vema cruise 27 from July to September, 1969. There are 7 blank sheets. Each sheet is stabled to carbon paper and a duplicate sheet. Summary of routes: Vema cruise 26 BT logs record information from the North Atlantic Ocean from off the coast of the mid-Atlantic US to the Southeast US and Bermuda. Vema cruise 27 BT logs record information from the North Atlantic Ocean to the Norwegian Sea (including the northern portion of the Norwegian Sea, formerly known as Greenland Sea). The bathythermograph log records the following information: slide no., BT no., local time, log miles, coordinates, distance from last observed, sounding in fathoms, barometer, conditions of weather and sea, wind, surface temperature, wet B. temperature, dry B. temperature, clouds, BT depth, and note on back (y/n). The back of the cover (cover verso) has instructions for what information to fill in the bathythermograph (BT) log sheets.

Conrad cruise 12 : daily log, January 1968-June 1969
- Abstract
- This unbound logbook is the daily log for Conrad cruise 12 from January 14, 1968 to June 06, 1969. Daily logs contain narrative summaries of the daily towing activities and samples, noting such information as environmental conditions, interesting specimen collected, and some times personal reflections. Coordinates are recorded sporadically from March onward. The first coordinate given is near Hawai'i. They sail to various points in the North and South Pacific Ocean. They also sail to the Coral Sea, the East China Sea (Tung Hai / Dong Hai), and the Philippine Sea. It is unclear whether Allan Be wrote these log notes or if these were written by a colleague of his.

- Abstract
- This item consists of the collection log and collection records of Margaret Collins, 1983 and undated. Includes a mix of typed, handwritten, and photocopied notes. The original, handwritten notes include the following lists: Kalomtermitidae, Central America, Guyana and Suriname; Rhinotermitidae, Central America, Guyana, Suriname; Amitermes, United States, Central America, Guyana, Suriname; Nasutitermes, Central America, Guyana, and Suriname; and others. Entries list jar number, specimen number (probably collector number), scientific name, and other notations (4N, 12N, etc.).
