The glossary explains some of the terms used to talk about the history and peoples of Mexico and the American West and Southwest.

- Summary
- Lush green landscape of a forest of beech trees with a stream running through the middle. The stream flows from the background into the middle foreground where the water rushes over and between rocks. The grassy banks of the stream are lined with beech trees. The ground on the right bank of the stream has eroded slightly revealing the roots of a nearby tree. In the distance the trees appear hazy in the sunlight. There is a fallen log across the stream in the far distance

The Home Makers, (painting)

- Summary
- The pendentives of the Great Dome are adorned with four murals depicting Missouri in Four Great Historical Periods. The Home Makers in the southwest pendentive depicts the first Missouri home with oxen plowing the field, lumbermen cutting trees to build a log house, and carpenters building the house. In the foreground a young boys play with a goat and in the background a young boy climbs a fruit tree, while a hunter stands nearby. Standing in the middle is the mother holding her child
