Shaw covers work in Madagascar (October 22, 1962 - November 17, 1962) and Mexico (February 15 - 17, 1963). Entries are headed with date and locality (combination of country, region, town, distance from, sometimes elevation). Topics in entries are often broken out, including atmospheric conditions (temperatures, humidity, wet / dry bulb, weather), itinerary (with times of day), trap lines (bait, locations), collecting results, and remarks. Remarks include observations of habitat and collecting activities, observations of flora and fauna and specimens. Specimens include birds. There are lists of birds observed sometimes per day. There is a sketched maps of campsites, terrain / habitat, and collecting areas. Entries for Mexico are in similar format and content.|The field log of Everett D. Cashatt covers his collecting activities in Madagascar (August 30, 1962 - May 6, 1963) and Mauritius Islands (1962 - February 18, 1963). Entries are headed with Lot number (1 - 28) and topics: location (distance from, region, geological landmark), duration of stay, weather data (temperatures, relative humidity), miscellaneous. Miscellaneous includes notes on habitat, observed flora and fauna (including insects), and terrain.

Wedge-tailed shearwater sightings, 1963-1964
- Abstract
- This volume is a log of observations of Wedge-tailed Shearwaters. Year information is not provided, but the folder title and finding aid information for this volume give the years as 1963 to 1964. Fields include date [day and month], time, lat. [empty field], long. [empty field], mi. fr. Joh. [miles from Johnston Atoll?][empty field], # birds, size of flock, other species, and remarks. Entries are dated from 5 September to 15 November [1963] and 3 January to 18 May [1964], with a line for each observation. Daily bird totals and statistics are given after each day in which at least one observation is recorded; statistics include number of birds per sighting, number of birds per flock, and number of birds per sighting not in flock. The remarks field gives direction [SW, NE, etc.], which may represent direction of flight. The remarks field also notes whether birds are feeding, number of dark phase individuals, and other observations. In the folder with the field book are two 1-page tables. The table titled "Tendency for Wedge-tailed Shearwaters to group together" has the following fields: category (no. of ~B), # sightings Sept-Nov. 1963, # sightings Jan.-May 1964, # sightings total, and % of total. The other table, "No of times Wedge-tailed Shearwaters have been seen in association with other birds," has the fields species, Sept-Nov. 1963, Jan.-May 1964, and total.

- Abstract
- The notebook documents H. S. Ladd's work in Fiji, 1925 - 1926. Also includes notes from work completed in State quarry [state no specified] beds during visits in March, April, and July 1924. Entries describe corral specimens found, including their color and other characteristics, geological layers (including sketch). Notes on expenses and entries are dispersed throughout the entirety of the notebook. There is a list of photographs taken (organized by roll) describing camera settings, location, elevation, subject matter and sometimes weather and date. Locations include across Oahu, Hawaii. There are lists of equipment, reading notes on corral reefs of Fiji. This is followed by journal entries for field work in Fiji in 1926. They are dated and describe routes followed, destinations, terrain observed including along rivers, sometimes elevations, weather, vegetation, types of stone observed, extended descriptions of interactions with local Fijians, specimens collected (with prov. no. #). |There is a daily log for 1925 trip to Hawaii (Oahu) where he worked with Dr. Palmer of the Bishop Museum specimen collecting and at one point investigating sand composition (presence of coral and shells found) at recently discovered sites of human remains (assumed to be traditional Hawaiian burial sites). He describes the trip to Hawaii, individuals met along way, interactions with colleagues, and personal and professional daily activities, and work completed. Notes leaving for Fiji from Hawaii for his honeymoon (some entries cover this portion of travel). At the end of his notes are a series of lists covering expenses, presents (wedding), work to complete, and to do list.
