Notes Content: Dumpsters and dumpster trucks ; Dempster Dumpmaster was introduced in the 1950's and was the first commercially successful front-loading garbage truck. Built by Dempster Brothers, they used the Dempster-Dumpster system of mechanically emptying standardized metal containers, which had been patented by the company in 1937. Arms at the front picked up a mobile garbage bin, called a dumpster, lifted it over the cab to tip it into the hopper. A rearward travelling compacting panel compressed the garbage stored in the truck, and was also used to push it out through a door at the back when the truck was emptied. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dempster_DumpmasterIncludes: Trade catalogBlack and white imagesColor imagesPhysical Description: 5 pieces; 1 box
