Notes content
Unique circa 1917 booklet with embossed cover for the Park Drop Forge Co. At first, it manufactured forgings for crankshafts, camshafts, and other engine parts used in large diesel locomotives, trucks, and buses. In 1927, one of its crankshafts was used to power Charles Lindbergh's trans-Atlantic Airplane, The Spirit of St. Louis, and it subsequently went on to supply other aircraft. Growth during the 1930s was fueled by the development of a proprietary metalworking process using high-frequency electrical current. (See http://www.fundinguniverse.com/company-histories/ParkOhio-Industries-Inc-Company-History.html). In 1936, M.A. Tran of Park Drop Forge and W.E. Benninghoff of Ohio Crankshaft co-wrote an article called "Defferential Hardening by Induction" about the high-frequency electrical current Tocco process. Also a hard copy of a history of the company from the website www.fundinguniverse.com (see http://www.fundinguniverse.com/company-histories/ParkOhio-Industries-Inc-Company-History.html).
