Popular Comics No. 101 was published by Dell Magazine in July 1944. The cover features Casper Hawkins, Dr. Stephen Bobbs, Pat Ryan, Sam'l Perkins, Skeezix Wallet, Smilin' Jack Martin, Smokey Stover, and Toots Hawkins above a $100 Series E War Savings Bond. Above the characters is a speech bubble that says, “Buy One of These Bonds Today!” The issue contains stories featuring the characters Smokey Stover," "Elza Poppin" "Dr. Bobbs," "Felix the Cat," "Polly and her Pals," "Gasoline Alley," "Etta Kent," "Toots and Casper," and "The Gumps."
Popular Comics published 145 issues from February 1936 through 1948. Popular Comics featured a variety of different stories during its run, often licensing content including Gasoline Alley, Felix the Cat, the radio show Gang Busters, Little Orphan Annie, and Dick Tracey.
