Torsion Balance

Description
A tag on the base reads “THE TORSION BALANCE CO. NEW YORK STYLE 253 No. B112305 CAPACITY 4½KG. MADE IN U.S.A. APPROVED TYPE PENNA. SERIES NO. J.” Raised letters on the base read “TORSION BALANCE.” The case is oak, with hinged top.
This model had a capacity of 10 pounds, a sensitiveness of 3 grains, and a graduated beam in front, and was extensively used for routine work in colleges and industrial plants, and for weighing animals.
