Plain, curvilinear, lidded box with serpentine ends, reverse-cyma front and back, and flat top and bottom; lid attached with one five-finger hinge at back center. Bottom underside struck with four effaced hallmarks, an indecipherable figure in three-pointed shield, a lion passant facing left in clipped-corner pointed shield, the raised gothic or Old English letters "e c / p" in a trefoil (possible partial strike above), and what appears to be an imperial crown in oval.
