Description:

Dessert knife. Straight steel blade with rounded tip. Blade and tang one piece of steel. Tang has ivory scales riveted to top and bottom with brass pins to form a block handle with chamfered sides and rounded butt. Bolster is formed by two rectangular pieces of steel welded to stem and mortised into wooden scales. Heavily stained and scratched.

Blade is stamped: “LAMSON & GOODNOW MFG CO/PATENTED. MARCH 6 . 1860”

Maker is Lamson & Goodnow Company, a manufacturer and wholesaler active in Shelburne Falls, Massachusetts 1844-present.
