Ribbon

Description
Before the advent of zippers or elastic, ribbons (also called tape) were used to tie and fasten a variety of garments for both men and women. Used to keep socks up, corsets tightened, or sleeves closed, ribbons were an integral part of the daily wardrobe in early American life.
