Sarah Grabill's Sampler

This sampler by Sarah Grabill, is stitched in cross stitch with cotton embroidery thread on a linen ground with a thread count of warp 23, weft 31/ in. There are scattered motifs and the initials "S G S C D." Sarah Weidler Grabill was born November 15, 1794, to John and Anna Catharine Weidler Grabill in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. She married on May 19, 1814, Adam Bare (1789 -1880). They had seven children, Wayne, Catharine, Elias, Caroline, Adam, Diller, and John G. She died December 9, 1873, and she and Adam are buried in the Salem Evangelical Reformed Church, Hellers cemetery in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.
