This Luke Jackson basketball card is number 118 in a series of 264 that was manufactured by the Topps Company Inc. for the 1972-1973 National Basketball Association season. The front of the card features a posed picture of the Philadelphia 76ers center on a yellow background. The card’s reverse features a small cartoon image illustrating the factoid that “Luke suffered a ruptured Achilles tendon in 1968-1969,” as well as a short biography and career statistics.
Luke played his entire eight-year NBA career for the Philadelphia 76ers, retiring prior to the 1972-73 season. Known for his strong defense and rebounding, Jackson was selected to the All-Rookie Team and All-Star Team in 1965, and helped the 76ers win the 1967 NBA championship.
