This Nate Thurmond basketball card is number 5 in a series of 264 manufactured by the Topps Company Inc. for the 1973-1974 NBA season. The front of the card features an in-game action photo of the Golden State Warriors center Nate Thurmond. The card’s reverse features a small cartoon image illustrating the factoid that “Nate is a fulltime employee of his own restaurants,” as well as a short biographical sketch and career statistics.
Nate Thurmond played 14 seasons in the NBA with the San Francisco/Golden State Warriors, Chicago Bulls, and Cleveland Cavaliers from 1963 to 1977. Thurmond was a seven-time all-star and a five-time selection to the NBA's All-Defensive team. Thurmond is one of just four players in NBA history to record over 40 rebounds in a single game and was inducted to the Hall of Fame in 1985.
