Description
This object was collected by Brooklyn high school teacher and historian of mathematics L. Leland Locke and held by the Museums of the Peaceful Arts in New York City before coming to the Smithsonian. The steel mechanism consists of three flat pieces, two of which are attached and have what appear to be key stems between them.
