Bronzed Boxing Glove given to Joe Louis

Description (Brief):

Bronzed boxing glove belonging to Joe Louis to commemorate the fight between Louis and Musto - April 8, 1941 - St. Louis, Mo. The glove was used during the fight and later bronzed. Joe Louis, known as the "Brown Bomber," was considered one of the greatest heavyweight fighters of all time. He is often regarded as the first African American to become a nationwide hero and became the focal point of anti-Nazi sentiment with the Schmeling fight of 1936. He was the reigning World Heavyweight Champion from 1937 until his retirement in 1949.
