Patti McGee has a lot of "firsts" to her name--first professional woman skateboarder, first woman inducted into the International Skateboarding Hall of Fame, and--in 1965 at the age of 19--the first skateboarder to appear on the covers of both Life and Skateboarder Magazine. As an amateur skater and race organizer, Di Dootson Rose highlighted the local skate scene, publishing the National Skateboard Review newspaper from 1976 to 1979. Both legends of the skate world, McGee and Dootson Rose offer their insights on being groundbreakers whose legacy is now preserved, thanks to generous donations from both women, in the National Museum of American History collections.
