These labels from Virginia wineries
illustrate the actual fulfillment of
Jefferson's dream for making wine in
America. Vintner Jim Law of Linden
Vineyards, Virginia, comments, " We
grow European vines on a new Zealand
trellis system in Virginia soil. We use a
California dejuicing tank to gently extract
the Chardonnay juice before it is
traditionally barrel fermented in French
oak using Australian yeast," neatly
summarizing the eclecticism of American
wine making.
