Macy’s toy department by theatrical designer Landy R. Hales, Macy’s Herald Square, New York, 1927
Theatrical designer Landy R. Hales created a village setting for Macy’s toy department, complete with streetlamp fixtures disguising the load-bearing columns of the world’s largest store. Children’s souvenirs and colorful posters picturing Wonderland promoted the toy town ideal.
