Named in honor of the Museum’s most well-known and beloved artifact, the Star-Spangled Banner Society recognizes individuals who have made bequests, charitable gift annuities, or other planned gifts that will benefit the National Museum of American History.
Members are invited to our annual Star-Spangled Banner Society luncheon with the Museum’s Director, as well as to other special events at the Museum and across the country. This lifetime membership will give donors opportunities to meet Museum leadership, learn more about the behind-the-scenes work that’s often invisible to the general public, and hear first-hand about our future plans and upcoming exhibitions.
Membership in the Star-Spangled Banner Society complements your membership in the Smithsonian Legacy Society, a larger group for planned gift donors to all of the Smithsonian’s museums and research centers.
