Adolfo 2-Piece Suit
2-Piece Suit, 1974
No. 312917.1
Gift of Adolfo Inc.
Neg. No. 99-27434

In the early 1970s Adolfo produced a series of knits inspired by Chanel's famous tweed suits. They proved to be so popular that he continued to show varied versions in every one of his subsequent collections.

Instead of cutting and sewing the knit fabric, each piece of this suit is knitted to shape and then sewn by hand or special machine. The black and white with yellow yarn braiding completely finishes all the edges and enhances the knitted tweed. The skirt front was knitted in two sections in order to achieve the center front inverted pleat.
