Blahnik first designed "mules" with beading over the instep for Paloma Picasso in 1986. He then produced the shoes in a variety of fabrics calling them "Orientalia." This pair is made of black and white fabric, with metallic gold leopard spots and is heavily beaded in semi-precious stones and baroque pearls.
