In September 2001 Smithsonian staff worked with video production company A La Carte Communications to film an interview with Julia Child about her kitchen, its place in her family and professional history, and her various tools, utensils, and equipment.

"We brought out all the gadgets -- the ones we had not a clue as to what they were -- and laid them in front of Julia and asked her to identify them and explain how they were used. I think she got all but one!" --NE
