In November and December 2001, Julia Child's kitchen was packed and shipped to the Smithsonian's National Museum of American History. The first team in November took documentary photographs of the kitchen and packed and shipped all the small appliances, cooking tools and utensils, and contents of the kitchen cabinets and drawers. In December Museum staff dismantled cupboards and moved the large appliances into the truck for shipping.
