Stories of Freedom and Justice This year marks the 50th anniversary of the student sit-ins at the Greensboro, N.C. lunch counter. To commemorate this event, the Museum is exploring stories of Freedom and Justice throughout 2010 with historic theater programs, performances of freedom songs, a special blog series, and more.
Sounds of America: Freedom Songs of the U.S. Civil Rights Movement The music of the modern Civil Rights Movement came from many sources. These songs became the anthems of the Freedom Movement throughout this nation and around the world. This program can be streamed on your computer, and lasts about an hour.
Watch Video of Live and Archived Events In February 2010, the Museum is webcasting two live events: a ceremony featuring the presentation of the James Smithson Bicentennial Medal to the Greensboro Four and a Youth Town Hall on the civil rights movement. You can also watch archived video of events including: a conversation with Lester Brown; a series of lectures on Abraham Lincoln; and footage from the Museum's 2008 reopening events featuring historian David McCullough, President George W.
