From the Smithsonian Collection
This tenor saxophone in C was manufactured by C.G. Conn, of Elkhart, Indiana. It was owned and used by James E. Frew and donated to the museum by his family in 1979. As a type of saxophone widely available in early 20th century America, it is used in "America on the Move" to represent the sort of musical instrument that Jazz Age musicians might have brought with them when they migrated to New York in the 1920s.
