This turn-auto was used in the Brozek Garage, founded by Joseph F. Brozek in Brooklyn New York in 1910. The turn-auto was used from circa 1923-1933.

Physical Description |

Artifact. Approximately 16' L x 7' 5" W x 7' 5"H. Made of metal and wood. A car was driven up onto the turn-auto and then the mechanic used the crank to turn the car so that the undercarriage could be more easily accessed.

Early cars required frequent maintenance and repairs. Many machinists, blacksmiths, bicycle mechanics, and others started auto repair shops, and inventions like the turn-auto were designed to make the professional mechanic's life easier.
