Electrification did not occur instantly. As with many new technologies, time was required for prices to fall and for an infrastructure which could reach the majority Americans to be built. Also, retailers were selling to people who
had grown up without electricity. This required not only selling appliances, but selling the concept and utility of electrification as well. One way to accomplish this was to show people the flexibility of the new energy source. This floor-standing display appeared in stores in 1924.
