Ad from Western Electric Co. offering electric-power
generators for lighting systems. Note also the ad from The Electrical Accumulator Co.
for batteries, and from Poole & Hunt for a turbine water-wheel. Storage batteries were
sold for use as load-leveling devices for many years. Early water-turbines adapted from
mills changed to more specialized designs as engineers became more familiar with the
technology.

World, 1887.
