Original Science Service Caption:
"VETERANS OF POWER -- Installed by Westinghouse in 1902, these flywheel generators, driven by vertical reciprocating steam engines, are still making electric power in the power plant of the Pennsylvania Railroad's station at Pittsburgh, Pa. They were recently supplemented by a 500,000-watt turbine generator unit which takes exhaust steam from the existing engines and uses it at a pressure of only two pounds per square inch."
