Warrington Colescott, born 1921
Rembrandt Bankrupt
Etching and aquatint, 1978
Museum purchase, 1985

Rembrandt's art collection was an important source of inspiration for his work. While he achieved critical success during his lifetime, he faced financial difficulties toward the end of his life and had to auction his prints and drawings as well as his household goods. Colescott's satirical etching is part of his History of Printmaking series completed in the 1970s.
