Brittany Hutchinson

Division of Armed Forces History

Brittany graduated with a B.A. in Archaeology from Wayne State University and is now attending Morgan State University as a graduate student in the Museum Studies and Historical Preservation program. Currently she is working as an intern with Karen Lee in numismatics where she researches the history of the collection, composes documents about notable coins and exhibits, and focuses on collection management tasks. “The best part about working with numismatics is the amount of information each coin can produce. It’s amazing how many stories can come from such small objects.” When asked about her overall experience as an intern, Brittany shares, “I’ve always wanted to work for the Smithsonian and it seems unreal to walk through those doors every day. Everyone makes us feel welcome and there are so many great people to learn from. Working here is easily one of the greatest experiences I’ve had.”
