Role in Museum:

I manage the Docent and Daily Interpretive Programs at the National Museum of American History. We have over 200 weekday and weekend volunteers who lead tours, run demonstrations, and facilitate hands-on activities throughout the Museum. I recruit, train, evaluate, and provide administrative support to this dedicated group. In addition, I am the main contact person for educators and other groups wishing to visit the Museum. I respond to over 1,500 inquiries a year from groups wishing to schedule tours, receive curriculum materials and other resources, or learn more about the Museum.

Projects:

Most recently, I trained docents for the America On the Move and Separate Is Not Equal: Brown v. Board of Education exhibitions, and I am currently developing the docent programs for the upcoming exhibition The Price of Freedom. I am also involved in Public Space Planning for the Museum and the Web site redesign project.
