Role in Museum:

I work as Senior Advisor to John Gray, Director of the Museum, providing guidance on matters of organizational structure, policy, operations, and strategic direction. I thoroughly enjoy working closely with the entire NMAH staff to implement our Strategic Plan and to create a strong intellectual framework for Understanding the American Experience

Projects:

I am delighted to return to the Smithsonian – for the third time! From 1984 to 2000, I worked in the Smithsonian Office of Telecommunications where I took a lead role in developing new media initiatives, creating partnerships with companies including Phillips Media, MacMillan Publishing, and DreamWorks. From 1996 to 2000, I helped build Smithsonian Entertainment, under the aegis of the Counselor to the Secretary and the Under Secretary, overseeing the Smithsonian’s partnership with Creative Artists Agency and productions with prominent entertainment, network, and publishing enterprises. In 2000, I accepted the position of Vice President of Media and Editorial of K-12, Inc., an online educational company now traded on the New York Stock Exchange. Since then I have served as Executive Director for a 501c3 organization promoting the welfare of women in Islamic countries, and as Director of Development and Marketing for a progressive dance company. Before returning to the Smithsonian in 2011, I worked with a range of high-profile clients including the Library of Congress Veterans History Project, the State Department’s Fulbright Program, the National Education Association Foundation, the United Nations Association, and the World Bank.
