Ellsworth Brown is the Director of the Wisconsin Historical Society in Madison, WI. He is the former President and CEO, and trustee of Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh and also of Carnegie Museums of Pittsburgh, which includes Carnegie Museum of Art, Carnegie Museum of Natural History, Carnegie Science Center, and the Andy Warhol Museum. Prior to this, he was director of the Chicago Historical Society. Dr. Brown was president of the American Association of Museums from 1990 to 1992, and has chaired the Association's nominating committee and its governance task force. He was a Museum Assessment Program visitor and served on visiting committees for the AAM Accreditation Commission. He resides in Madison, WI. Dr. Brown served on the National Museum of American History Blue Ribbon Commission, on the Smithsonian Council, and as a Board Member of the National Museum of the American Indian.
