David Fields is a lawyer and corporate executive currently residing in the San Francisco Bay Area. After law firm practice in Los Angeles, Fields became Vice President and General Counsel for the retail division of the Irvine Company in Newport Beach, California. At Irvine, he was part of the senior management team that more than tripled the size of the retail portfolio for one of California’s largest privately held companies. After a successful tenure at Irvine of more than 15 years, Fields joined Bayer Properties, a national real estate developer located in Birmingham, Alabama. As Executive Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer, he led a number of disciplines and was active in the company’s strategic planning, governmental relations, and public/private partnerships, ultimately assuming responsibility for Asset Management. Since March of 2014, Fields has served as Executive Vice President, Chief Administrative Officer and General Counsel of Sunset Development. Sunset developed and manages the Bishop Ranch Office Park in East Bay San Francisco that is home to over 600 companies with more than 30,000 employees. Fields serves as Sunset’s first general counsel while also overseeing human resources and administration and focusing on organizing the company for continued growth. Fields has served on a number of national, state, and regional boards during his career. He received his degrees from Yale University and Harvard Law School.
