David M. Rubenstein

NMAH Board Member; Co-Founder & Managing Director, The Carlyle Group

Mr. Rubenstein is Co-Founder and Managing Director of The Carlyle Group.  Prior to this, he practiced with the Washington law firm, Shaw, Pittman, Potts & Trowbridge, and the New York firm, Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison.  Mr. Rubenstein served as Chief Counsel to the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee’s Subcommittee on Constitutional Amendments, and was Deputy Assistant to the President for Domestic Policy during the Carter administration.  Mr. Rubenstein is on the Board of Directors of Trustees of Duke University, Johns Hopkins University, the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts (Vice Chairman), the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, and the Dance Theatre of Harlem.  He is also a member of the Visiting Committee of the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard, the Dean’s Council at the Woodrow Wilson School at Princeton, the Advisory Board of the Stanford Institute for Economic Policy Research, the Trustees’ Council of the National Gallery of Art, the Madison Council of the Library of Congress and the Council of the National Trust for Historic Preservation.  Mr. Rubenstein resides in Washington, DC.
