After conservation work is completed, the Star-Spangled Banner will become part of a new permanent exhibition at the National Museum of American History, For Which It Stands: The American Flag in American Life.

Through compelling objects, images, and stories, For Which It Stands will explore the history and meaning of the American flag. It will connect the flag to major events and themes of patriotism, memory, and identity to help visitors understand the complex and changing relationship between Americans and their national symbol.
