Collaborations: Institutional Cooperation

By the mid 1990s, it became clear that publication of The William Steinway Diary would best be achieved through digital means, beginning a collaboration between several Smithsonian Institution units, including the National Museum of American History's Archives Center and Division of Culture and the Arts, together with Smithsonian Institution Libraries.

The group worked to begin creating an online edition of the 2,500-page diary, housed in the Museum's Archives Center. To oversee the endeavour, an advisory steering committee with representatives from each unit was formed in 2005. More on this collaboration is included in the Credits section of this Web site.
