NewYork +Astoria, August 25th 1894.

Aug 25th sat.

mild fine day, hand Smith & Burden specifications for building Fire Engine house, instruct young Burkards. Mrs. v. Poser calls tell her she must get along with Mr. Phil. Burkard and not cause me any trouble. Mr. & Mrs. Chas F. Schmidt jr. called for lunch. Mrs. Chas. P. Daly died last Wednesday. L.v B. +wife, Meta, Maud, Chas F. Schmidt & wife, Frl. Krüsi take a spin on a Daimler Motor Launch in afternoon. Lg. Isl City property seems to be enquired much more after, than formerly. Skat in evg with L.v.B. +Cassebeer, lose 26 Cents

Aug 26th Sunday.

Do an immense lot of work. At 4.30 P.M. drive with Baberich+Nurse over the beach which is crowded, although day is somewhat hazy. L.v.B. wife, little girls in "Gemini' to Roesler &back, Saw Förster & gave him Memoranda

To St. Hall, very busy all day. Kavanagh has been for several days levelling lots of Ravenswood Improvement Comp for Recreation Grounds, lunch at Lüchows Aug 28 In Skat lost $2.26. Dr. Satterlee called

Remain Astoria Mansion til 11 A.M. drew up permit to Mary E. Kavanagh to let her use Ravenswood Impt. Co. as Recreation ground. J. Kraemer borrows $30.40 Supper at L.K. with Hoffmann Adams. & Cillis. L.K. adopts Silverspring Park for Excursion pr. Chancellor + Picnic sat. Septbr 15th. Tariff bill becomes law at Midnight last night, Pres. Cleveland not signing the same Weather has been cool and pleasant, but quite a drouth H. v. Hunerbein called, played for me, quite nicely

Remain at Mansion, do a great deal of work, not being disturbed by anybody all day, play no Skat in evg, but chat with L.v. Bernuth, Paula +c

Aug 30th Thursd.

to St. Hall, get off alot of letters to Europe pr. Normannia, receive Postal card from my boys from Stuttgart. Business as yet shows little signs of revival. At Mansion in evg. J. O Toussaint to supper with me. LvB. + wife stated for Lake Placid this morning. Mr. W. D. Sloane called on me at noon today relative to investing about $100.000. in bonds+stocks of the Steinway Railway Comp J. Franko called, also her sister Mrs. Bird.
