NewYork, April 2d 1896

April 7th Tuesd.

A large concourse of people call, although a heavy snowstorm prevails. do not go to L.K. on account of Weather among the callers is E. Hemmann + vvp also Lamar who wants Recreation Grounds. L.v.B. +wife, Julia D. Cassebeer, Willie+Theodor Steinway have been via Charleston, Savannah, New Orleans + are en route via Atlanta to Asheville N.C. Work til nearly 11 PM

Apil 8th Wed.

Am almost pestered to death by Mendicants. At 3 P.M. Aug. Zinsser, jr., Chas. C. Kreischer, Frida E. Washington call and we succeed in settling the whole Estate of E. B. Kreischer. At 6 P.M. to Fritz v Bernuth, to supper, John F. Degner and wife there, Louisa A. St. + Riekchen Kreischer there, sing, we then play Skat and have a very pleasant evg, I win.

April 9th Thursd.

Clear cool day, Drive over early to Queens County Court house. Referee Frost and Auctioneer Harry Johnson jr. sell the Astoria Athletic Club house under my foreclosure, I bid in the Property at $6.500. Cash, Ex. Can. of the Public Works Sharkey bidding against me. Returning directly to St. Hall quite a throng of mendicants await me, Work at Office until 8 P.M. then home. Antonia Knauth, Drs. Gerster, Wettengel, Coroner Hoeber, Thomas Prehn Aug. Zinsser sen.Scherhey and assemble at my house, talk over propriety of founding the Bach Society, we have the sense of the Meeting to take preliminary steps to issue a call

April 10th frid.

Fine clear day, still somewhat windy. Thomas Prehn called and we decide to obtain information from Berlin as to Scherhey first before moving in the proposed Bach Society matter. John Weber called wants to reserve the 4 Steinway Ave lots No 37. 38. 39 +40 in Bl.also. At 2P.M. drove with Edward M. Bowman to Astoria, show him whole situation, also former Kraemer factory, which he likes quite well, take him to North Beach. Reach St. Hall work til 11 P.M. large mail to Europe which my attendant Louis Koch +I take to Station D. in person.

April 11th sat.

Beautiful spring day. At St. Hall early, large concourse of Mendicants, among C. Schiller, A. Suczynska, also J. Grimm. Al. Friend. Gave Leonce $5. for his birthday, at 10 P.M. walked home without cane + crutches
