American Stories

This website is based on an exhibition that was on view at the National Museum of American History through January 5, 2020.

Objects and stories both reinforce and challenge our understanding of American history and help define our personal and cultural identities. Join us on a journey through time to discover what we can learn through artifacts. This exhibition is organized by chronological eras and shaped, in part, by our collections. We will showcase new acquisitions in the gallery as the Museum continues to collect objects that tell the stories of all Americans.
