From the Journal of an overland journey to California 1852. Henry and Jane Bradley. Beinecke Library Yale: April 1st Went to Rockton this day seventeen miles. Started at 8 o’clock a.m. Ground frozen and rough travelling. It snowed some in the a.m. frequent squalls in the p.m. and froze gloves. Jane had a sore throat with cold chills and fever last night. Throat some sore today but better than last night. Evening her throat is sorer. Stayed all night with Mr Kimball. Mrs Kimball was very kind to me. She put some of Radway’s Ready Relief and it helped it some.
