Description:

Spectacles with silver colored metal frames, clear oval primary lenses, turquoise oval side hinged protective lenses, wide hoop bridge, large triple screw hinges, and sliding temples with open loop tips. The “M'ALLISTER / PHILAD.” inscription refers to a firm begun by John McAllister, a Scotsman who moved to Philadelphia in 1775 and earned his living making and selling whips and canes. He began selling spectacles in 1796.
